Burn the Bible!

One man and his church are planning on burning the Koran in remembrance of 9/11. The day in which a group of Moslems attacked the Twin Towers and the Pentagon killing more than 3000 Americans.

In spite of this book burning being an action by an individual protected under the First Amendment right to freedom of speech, his actions are being condemned by:
The President of the United States
The Attorney General of the United States
The Secretary of State of the United States
The General in command of American troops in Afghanistan

Their condemnation comes under the rubric of this being a nation of religious liberty.

Yet a mere 2 years ago the United States Government, Department of Defense oversaw the destruction of Bibles.

May 22, 2009

(CNN) -- Military personnel threw away, and ultimately burned, confiscated Bibles that were printed in the two most common Afghan languages amid concern they would be used to try to convert Afghans, a Defense Department spokesman said Tuesday.

On the one hand we have an individual expressing his Bill of Rights guaranteed activity to burn a book. On the other you have government representatives condemning the destruction of a "holy" book, while at the same time officially destroying another "holy" book.

If the US government had destroyed a box of Korans as they had the Bibles-What do you think the reaction throughout all of the Moslem world would have been?

One book responsible for the rise of all modern society, civilization, and technology of the Western world. The other book responsible for the imprisonment of millions in a "civilization" barely more advanced than the stone age. A civilization which calls for the stoning of women who have been raped -by their own family. And the genital mutilation of small girls to insure they never are able to experience sexual "pleasure."

On one hand is a book promoting world peace and tolerance. On the other a book promoting intolerance and world conquest by the sword to enforce submission to its mandates.

On one hand a book gifted by God to bring peace and reconciliation with Him. On the other hand what is most likely the most evil book ever conceived by Satan.

In all of this why am I not surprised at the continued antipathy toward the Bible and Christianity by Democrats, socialists and liberals in the United States? (yes, I do know those three terms are functionally synonymous)

Ann Coulter !?!

From now on if I ever want to see the gospel presented clearly and without hesitation, I hope to see Ann Coulter on TV in such situations as Larry King Live or other news and talk shows.

When I think of the times "pastors" and "preachers" (and you know who I am talking about) have been on that show and stuttered and stammered when asked about Christianity it is beyond refreshing and encouraging to read and hear this woman whose domain is politics give the clearest of gospel messages in her weekly opinion column.

I dare you to go and read her column here-
Christianity is simultaneously the easiest religion in the world and the hardest religion in the world.
In the no-frills, economy-class version, you don't need a church, a teacher, candles, incense, special food or clothing; you don't need to pass a test or prove yourself in any way. All you'll need is a Bible (in order to grasp the amazing deal you're getting) and probably a water baptism, though even that's disputed.
You can be washing the dishes or walking your dog or just sitting there minding your business hating Susan Sarandon and accept that God sent his only son to die for your sins and rise from the dead ... and you're in!
"Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9.

Christianity is also the hardest religion in the world because, if you believe Christ died for your sins and rose from the dead, you have no choice but to give your life entirely over to Him. No more sexual promiscuity, no lying, no cheating, no stealing, no killing inconvenient old people or unborn babies -- no doing what all the other kids do.
And no more caring what the world thinks of you -- because, as Jesus warned in a prophecy constantly fulfilled by liberals: The world will hate you.
With Christianity, your sins are forgiven, the slate is wiped clean and your eternal life is guaranteed through nothing you did yourself, even though you don't deserve it. It's the best deal in the universe.

Why is it that am I surprised at people who actually believe and openly proclaim the gospel?

There's A Hole In My Sidewalk

I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost .... I am helpless.
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend that I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I am in this same place.
But, it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I
see it is there.
I still fall in ... it's a habit ... but, my eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is
my fault.
I get out immediately.

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

I walk down another street.

"Unsafe" Abortions (?)

This just in- teaching people to count. Making my science education of some use.

Reuters headline:
Unsafe abortions kill 70,000 a year, harm millions
Tue Oct 13, 2009 1:29pm EDT
  • Abortion rates fall but unsafe abortions still kill 70,000
  • Women in countries with restrictive laws are at risk
  • Dangerous abortion imposes heavy economic, health burden

Here is where the article completely makes the headline a (horrific) joke-
Despite easier access to abortion with restrictions being relaxed in many countries, the number of abortions fell from an estimated 45.5 million in 1995 to 41.6 million in 2003, the report by the U.S.-based Guttmacher Institute said.

But the study found a stubbornly high number -- almost 20 million -- of unsafe abortions, mostly in poorer countries and often carried out by the women themselves using inappropriate drugs or herbal potions, or by untrained traditional healers.

41.6 million abortions, to use the latest number, equals 41.6 million people killed per year-not 70,000.

41.6 million innocent human babies ground up and thrown away.
But to the media and the political left the horror is that an additional 70,000 women are killed.

To me, the horror is that 140,000 is the additional number killed, not 70,000.
To explain to the poor muddled masses of the left:
70,000 mothers + 70,000 babies killed each year in "unsafe" abortions = 140,000 dead.

41,600,000 + 140,000 makes an even 41,740,000 DEAD.

What is it that makes an abortion safe?
Apparently a 50% mortality rate is considered perfect, a "perfectly safe abortion." As long as one of the two people undergoing the procedure can walk away it is a "safe" abortion.
Usually that survivor is the mother, usually the one who dies is the baby: 50 - 50
Only when the mother is also at risk of injury or death is it "unsafe" and worthy of news coverage, international health outcry, and calls for more funds to ensure that 50/50 ratio is more carefully maintained.

"Glo"-ing endorsement?

Since the 1450's the Bible has remained unchanged. Yes, the word of God is unchanging, and must be vigilently defended and kept. But that is not what I am talking about.

Since Gutenberg invented the printing press and printed his first Bible five and a half centuries have passed and our Bibles have not changed in format.

I propose that those of us serious about the Bible and what it contains enter the 21st century.

Be sure to check out Glo "a better Bible."

Glo will be in retail stores on October 15, 2009. I have ordered it and post a review after I receive it and have a chance to look it over.

Sure its not cheap.
Don't make me start off on what you spend on meals, and movies, and clothes, and . . .
And it turns out to be only about what you pay for a leather bound Bible you set on the shelf in you library anyway.

WATERPROOF BIBLE!

Attention hardcore Bible carriers.
OK. I could have said Bible readers, but I am feeling a little vexatious today.

Check out this new Bible from Bardin & Marsee Publishing.

Now you can take your Bible with you on your camping trips.
Your motorcycle rides.
Outback at the pool or on the Family or Youth Beach trips.
You can even let your kids read your Bible.

Or, if you are like me. . .
You can read your Bible at your own desk in full confidence that the next time you knock over your glass---
it is only the computer you have to jump in to rescue!
